About us

REMONDIS Taiwan is offering high-quality services in the fields of plastic recycling and industrial service since 1996. With more than 110 employees in 3 locations, REMONDIS Taiwan is now one of the leading environmental protection companies in Taiwan. It is part of the REMONDIS Group which globally operates in many fields: it recovers raw materials from waste, develops innovative recycled products, offers alternative fuels and plays an important role in the water management sector supplying water and treating wastewater. In addition, REMONDIS removes pollutants from residual and hazardous wastes – which are unable to be recycled with today’s technology – and disposes of them using ecofriendly methods.

Our target in Taiwan is to transfer environmental protection technology, ideas, and know-how from Germany to shorten the learning curve here in Taiwan. We want to help Taiwan taking a leading position in Asia in terms of environmental protection technology.

Company History

REMONDIS is a family-run company established in Germany in 1934, REMONDIS has gradually built itself to become an International Organization, opening a branch in Taiwan in 1996. During that time, the owner Mr. Rethmann realized that Taiwan has a huge potential to become REMONDIS’ hub for its activities in East Asia. The proximity to many other Asian countries, a reliable regulatory framework and strong textile industry made it the optimal location to start investing in the industrial services and plastic recycling in Asia. Still under the name Rethmann, the recycling activities in Taiwan began in 1996.

In 2006, the company was renamed from RETHMANN Recycling to REMONDIS Taiwan Co., Ltd. under which name it still successfully operates today. REMONDIS Taiwan built up a strong reputation and brand around the company, known for being honest, responsible, and innovative. Today, we are essential part of the recycling supply chain in Taiwan and we are continuing to invest in that area to extend our company’s history to the next generations.

Our Values

Family-run

In the German culture, family-run means that the company is managed and led by values which can be traced back to the beginning of all commercial businesses. Back in the days, if the early merchants, often small family businesses, wanted to be successful in the long-term, they could only survive if they built up a respectable image around them. They had to be honest, respect the customer and focus on the well-being of their employees. Familyrun companies always focused on the long-term through building up a close relationship to their customers. These values became part of REMONDIS Corporate Identity and is carried into the daily business operations up until today. We are proud of our values because they made sure that our company is growing worldwide to a highly respected entity.

With Integrity – Everything at Anytime

Integrity means doing the right things and following ethical principles at any time – also when nobody is watching. Especially in the environmental protection industry, this is more important than anything. We know that our suppliers, no matter if industry or government, put a lot of trust in us in handing us over their waste. It is on us to harm or protect the environment with this waste. We are taking this trust very seriously. We guarantee you that every gram of waste which reaches us will always be treated according all regulations and common environmental standards.

Understand our Responsibility

We see being responsible in two levels, the outside and the inside. As a recycling company, we have a responsibility towards our environment, the country, and the community we are all living in. With our actions, we want to show that we are understanding our responsibility on this planet to protect our environment. On the other side, we are having a responsibility towards our employees and team members to offer them a fulfilling and secure job. We are having a responsibility towards each of our employees and their families as they devote all their efforts to our company’s growth.
